Last Wednesday we also had another doctor's appointment. We weren't expecting it, but we got to have an ultra sound! We knew that we were going to hear the baby's heartbeat at this appointment for the first time, but when we got there, Dr. Prendergast couldn't find the heartbeat. That, and the fact that I lost five pounds since my last appointment, made him a little concerned. So, he turned to me and said "Why don't we just got do an ultrasound?"
Everything ended up being just fine...and better! He focused in on the baby, and pointed out his* head, and then he raised up his little hand and started shaking it at us! We think it was either one of two things: He was either waving hi to us, or he was shaking his fist in anger for disturbing him.
Then we got to see the entire baby from the side, and he was kicking and kind of jumping around. So, from what we saw, everything looks totally normal and he is very, very active!
*Author's disclaimer: We don't know the sex of the baby. It was too early to tell from this ultrasound, and we didn't even have Dr. Prendergast try to look.
I just have a feeling now that it is a boy after seeing the baby. So until I know any different, typing him, his, he, etc. is easier than typing him/her, his/hers, he/she, etc.
Sorry to get your hopes up so early :)
